Hooting Owl Story

Image of Beth and JohnWelcome to Hooting Owl Granola! The journey to find the perfect granola started back in 2004 as I struggled to find a tasty granola to eat for breakfast. I have a number of food-related allergies and had trouble finding a natural granola that didn’t contain refined sugars, evaporated cane juice, peanuts or almonds.

Image of Beth at a local Farmers MarketI started baking my own granola in 2005, modifying the ingredients until I got the consistency and flavor profile I liked. After lots of time and effort, and the help of a tasting panel of friends and family, we are happy to introduce Hooting Owl Granola to the marketplace. There are a number of reasons why we think Hooting Owl Granola is the best (see Granola Flavors page for more info), but we hope you’ll try it yourself and let us know what you think.

Image of John at a local Farmers MarketWe named it Hooting Owl Granola as an homage to our home in the Pacific Northwest, where so many owls live among our evergreen trees. Many of the staff members are avid hikers and bird watchers and love looking up at the trees trying to spot one of the elusive owls that call the Pacific Northwest their home. We are so passionate about owls and forest preservation that 1% of all profits from Hooting Owl Granola will be donated to save old growth forests and to bird rehabilitation shelters in the Seattle area.

We source many local products and strive to use as many organic ingredients as we can. We hope you enjoy eating this granola as much as we enjoy making it! Please feel free to email your comments or suggestions to us; we’d love to hear what you think.
